Rita Bautista

Board Member since 2016

Ms. Bautista is currently the Director of Government Relations for the Home Builders Association of Greater New Orleans. As an advocate for the advancement of the community, Ms. Bautista focuses a majority of her time volunteering and sitting on boards and committees that focus on education, mentorship, and economic development. Currently, she sits on the advisory board of Son of a Saint Foundation, is the Vice-chair of the communications committee for UNO distinguished alumni gala, on the government committee and the young professional’s steering committee for the Jefferson Chamber of Commerce, and is a founding member of both the Hispanic young professionals for the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Southeast Louisiana Gammas, an alumnae association of the multicultural sorority Sigma Lambda Gamma, National Sorority Incorporated. Ms. Bautista received her Bachelors of Business and Urban Planning from the University of New Orleans.   In her free time, she enjoys traveling, listening to diverse genres of music, the arts, watching sports, especially the Baltimore Ravens and a good run.

Clarice T. Kirkland

Clarice T. Kirkland is a professional Social Worker making a positive impact on the City of New Orleans.  She presently serves as a Family Connections Representative/School Social Worker for Catapult Learning, Inc.  Ms. Kirkland previously served as a Mental Health Professional with DuraCARE Counseling & Consulting Services, Adjunct Professor/Field Instructor for Dillard, SUNO, Loyola, Xavier and Tulane universities and the city of New Orleans as Director of the Mayor’s office of Public Advocacy/VIGOR/311 Call Center under three administrations.  Clarice is married, has one daughter, son-in-law and two beautiful grandchildren.

Angela Vance

Board Member since 2016

Angela Vance is a News Producer at WWL-TV. A resident of New Orleans East for more than 30 years, Ms. Vance is dedicate to ensuring that the children of New Orleans East are given the very best educational opportunities. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, watching movies and rooting on the New Orleans Saints and the Tulane University Green Wave Football team.

Durrell Laurent

Board Member since 2015

Durrell Laurent draws on his deep business and entrepreneurial experiences to assist the Einstein Board. Mr. Laurent works at Huntington Ingalls Industries, Inc. and Geaux Group LLC, a leading financial management and risk consulting firm. He serves an an invaluable member of our finance committee and offers industry-vetted advice in financial compliance, budgeting, strategic planning, and risk management.

Mauricio Sierra

Board Member since 2015

Mauricio Sierra is a lawyer at Waltzer Wiygul & Garside Law Firm. Vested in the local community in New Orleans East, Mr. Sierra is passionate about improving the community and dedicated towards social justice causes. Mr. Sierra helps Einstein by offering invaluable legal counsel with a local context.

Lauren Narcisse, Board President

Board Member since 2012

Lauren Narcisse is an experienced educator, serving as President of the Einstein Board of Directors, and works at the Urban League College Track. Overseeing Einstein’s academic committee, Ms. Narcisse provides instrumental support in achieving our mission of producing lifelong learners. Additionally, she draws on her background in community outreach to offer suggestions in family engagement and outreach matters.

John Chris Bowman III, Board Vice President

Board Member since 2014

Mr. Bowman is currently serving as one of the high school teachers of all subjects at the Virtual Academy of Louisiana. Mr. Bowman serves on the board’s Academic Excellence and Outreach Committees. His career in education began as an Americorps volunteer in rural Arkansas in 1968 and ranges from classroom instructor, to administrator, all the way to Superintendent of the City of Baker School System. His depth of knowledge of public education is unusual and expansive. His passion for the profession is shown in his return to the classroom albeit virtual after his superintendency. When not teaching or pro-bono consulting at Einstein, Mr. Bowman enjoys exploring Louisiana’s many nature activities.  He is also not afraid to admit that he loves math, statistics, and data analysis, particularly data mining and text analytics.
